A "regent" is defined as one who represents a king in his absence. For Regent University, a regent is one who represents Christ, our Sovereign, in whatever sphere of life he or she may be called to serve Him.

General Facts
- Founded in 1978 and located on 70 acres in Virginia Beach, Va., Regent consists of seven graduate schools and one undergraduate school.
- The university offers 58 graduate and undergraduate degrees on campus and online, with approximately 14,957 alumni as of 2011.
- Regent was named a Top Conservative College in 2010 and was named to G.I. Jobs and Military Advanced Education magazines' 2012 list of Military-Friendly Schools.
- Regent Law has been recognized by The Princeton Review as a top-ten school in the nation for Best Quality of Life.
- More than 450 Hampton Roads Teachers of the Year received their degrees or certificates from Regent's School of Education and the school has yielded a 95 percent pass rate in the School Leadership Licensure Assessment.
- Regent has been the recipient of more than 267 national and international film awards by the School of Communication & the Arts.
- The School of Psychology & Counseling received an 85 percent match rate for Psy.D. student internships in 2011, well above the national average.
- Regent offers international study programs in England, France, Italy and Israel.
- Four university faculty members have been named Fulbright Scholars.

Signature Events
Regent hosts several national forums to address critical issues of the day. These signature events include the Clash of the Titans® debate, the Ronald Reagan Symposium and the Executive Leadership Series. These events draw nationally-known leaders, authors, CEOs and government officials such as Ehud Barak, Bob Dole, Al Gore, Newt Gingrich, Geraldine Ferraro, Mike Huckabee, Steve Forbes and others.
Library Resources
Regent's University Library contains almost 304,000 printed volumes; 593, 000 microform items; 14,000 video and audio recordings; 122 databases; 156,000 electronic books; and 98,900 journal titles via article databases.

Regent University faculty members are graduates of Yale, Harvard, Duke, Johns Hopkins and other notable institutions. They are award-winning scholars and practitioners who endeavor to prepare individual students for excellence and success in their chosen fields.
