Master's Level Admissions
Applicants to all master's programs must have a minimum of nine hours of undergraduate psychology and a preferred minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university is required of all applicants. All applicants must submit the following:
- Application for Admission
- Application Fee ($50) - this fee is non-refundable
- Personal Goals Statement (for required essay topics, click here)
- Official Transcripts (from all schools attended since high school graduation)
- GRE Scores, (general test only, we do not require subject test scores)
- Three Recommendations
- Resumé
An interview is required of all applicants to complete the admissions process. Applicants will be contacted by the Office of Admissions to arrange their interview, which may be completed by phone or in person once their file is complete. In certain instances an interview may be conducted via video teleconference.
Applicants to the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Online), School or Community Programs, are considered for the Fall term only. The application deadline is February 1st.
Applicants to the Master of Arts in Counseling (Virginia Beach Campus), School or Community Programs, are considered for the Fall term only. The priority application deadline is March 1st. The last day applications are considered is July 31st.
Applications are accepted for the MA in Human Services Counseling program for the fall, spring and summer of each year, and should be submitted by the following dates for priority consideration. (The second date listed is the last day applications will be considered for that term):
Fall - April 1/July 31
Spring - November 1/December 15
Summer - March 1/April 15
Applications are considered beyond these dates as long as space remains available in the class, or until the admissions office determines that admission is closed for the semester. Academic merit-based financial aid is available to those admitted students who qualify. Other than submitting your FAFSA, there is not a seperate financial aid application required to be considered for school specific scholarships and aid.
