Two nine-month, tenure-track positions for Assistant/Associate Professors of Counselor Education.
Requirements:
Doctorate in Counselor Education or related doctoral degree with a graduate degree in Counselor Education from a regionally accredited institution (graduates of CACREP approved program preferred).
Practical experience as an elementary or secondary school counselor or eligible for South Carolina certification as a school cousnelor is required. The successful candidates will have college teaching experience. In addition, a Licensed Professional Counselor is preferred.
Duties:
Teach graduate counseling foundations and school counseling courses on campus, off campus and online. Some weekend teaching may be required as the program expands.
The successful candidates will also supervise practicum and internship students, further develop online courses, advises students, sponsor student organizations, serve on university committees, engage in public services, and conduct scholarly research.
Salary:
Commensurate with education and experience.

Job Description:
The Guidance Counselor/Community College Liaison should be able to:
- Communicate the goals of the comprehensive school counseling program to education stakeholders (i.e., administrators, teachers, students, parents, and community/business leaders)
- Lead and facilitate group and individual counseling that addresses both academic and social needs of students
- Use data to develop comprehensive programs that meet student needs.
- Incorporate into programs the life skills that students need to be successful in the twenty-first century
- Coordinate career awareness (i.e. job shadowing) and internship programs for students both during the school year and during summer months/breaks
- Monitor the academic and social progress of students attending classes on the Community College campus
- Assist all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals, and plans
- Collaborate with parents/guardians and educators to assist students with educational, career, and life planning
- Consult and collaborate effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other educational/community resources regarding students with identified concerns and needs
- Adhere to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the school counseling profession
- Monitor student academic performance, behavior, and attendance and facilitate appropriate interventions
- Serve as liaison between JP Knapp Early College and Higher Education partners (i.e., College of the Albemarle, NC Learn and Earn Online Community Colleges, Elizabeth City State) as well as local/regional business and industry
- Facilitate all other responsibilities assigned by the principal
Job Requirements:
- Must hold or be eligible to hold appropriate NC Licensure from the NC Department of Public Instruction
- Experience as a High School Counselor preferred and/or experience with Community College admission requirements
- Commitment to high achievement for all students
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Positive role model both professionally and personally
