Faculty Bios

Work hard, play hard.

I have always been passionate about all that I do, whether work or play. I enjoy challenges and my work reflects this proclivity. I have a specialization in pediatric psychology, with special interests in infant assessment, pediatric cancer, pain management and consultation-liaison services, but would never decline the opportunity to learn something new.

I received my Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Mankato State University and my Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of South Carolina . I completed internship and postdoctoral training from the Children's Hospital of Orange County. Prior to coming to Regent University, I practiced as a staff psychologist in a hospital in North Carolina while simultaneously holding a clinical faculty position at East Carolina 's Brody School of Medicine and an adjunct faculty position at East Carolina University.

My career reflects my desire to continue to challenge myself and embrace opportunities. I am committed to providing the students at Regent with my knowledge, experienc, and passion for child health psychology. My own mentors instilled a philosophy of "do one, see one, teach one" as a means of acquiring and demonstrating skills as a psychologist and I will continue to work within this model. This philosophy has sparked a number of student projects including dissertation projects that will investigate children's spirituality during hospice care, effective group interventions for diabetic children, and grief workshops with hospital staff.

I am just as passionate about my outside interests as I am about my career. During my "down time," I also enjoy "hard work." I am active and enjoy trail biking, snow skiing and water skiing.
