SPC Commissioning Registration Page

The 2012 School of Psychology and Counseling Commissioning Ceremony will be held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Ballroom A at 1:00 pm. The service will be followed by a reception and group photos.

Ticket Information:

Tickets may be purchased online only. They will be available between March 1 and April 30, 2012. Graduates will attend for free. There will be a small charge for guests age 3 and over. ALL GUESTS over the age of 2 must have a ticket to be admitted.

Tickets may be picked up between Thursday, March 1 and Thursday, May 3.  See Ann Marie Hohman between 7 am and 4 pm in the Classroom Building, CRB 216 A (located in Suite 215).

Students arriving from out of town after the ticket pick-up deadline can retrieve their tickets on the day of the Commissioning Service at a table in the lobby of the Virginia Beach Convention Center.  Please allow extra time.

SPC Commissioning Ceremony Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring guests to the Commissioning Ceremony?

Your friends and family are welcome and encouraged to join you for this special occasion.  All guests must have tickets which must be purchased in advance.  Tickets will not be sold at the door.  Graduates attend for free, tickets for guests are $10 each for adults and children ages 3 and older.

How can I RSVP for the SPC Commissioning Ceremony?

Beginning on March 1 you can visit the online reservation page HERE.  You will be able to RSVP for commissioning, purchase tickets for your guests.  Be sure to register for BOTH the SPC Commissioning Ceremony and the Regent University Commencement Ceremony.

Where do I pick-up the tickets I ordered?

See Ann Marie Hohman or the Graduate Assistant in CRB 216A before 4 pm on May 3.  If you will not be in town in time to pick up the tickets on campus, you can pick them up at a table in front of the ballroom at the Convention Center.  Allow extra time.

Can children attend?

Children are welcome to join us.  Please consider that it is a formal ceremony which can last up to two hours and judge accordingly.  There will be a section toward the back that is reserved for families with young children that you may opt to use if you wish.

How do I order and receive the Regalia

What should I wear?

Pick up your Regalia on campus before the Commissioning Ceremony.  Wear your gown, but not the cap.  No headwear is permitted.  You will receive your hood during the ceremony.  Professional attire is appropriate.  Women should wear neutral or dark colored hosiery, not white.  Do not bring purses or cameras, please leave them with your guests.

Will the event be recorded?

No, but guests are welcome to bring a video camera.

What about pictures?

Immediately after the ceremony, the audience will proceed to the reception area.  Graduates should remain in the ballroom until their class has been photographed.

Guests can take photos during the ceremony, but no picture taking will be permitted in the aisles.  An area in the front of the ballroom will be roped off where family members can stand to take photos.

When and where do we meet before the ceremony?

Arrive inside the convention center by 12:30 pm.  Remember to allow enough time to find a parking space.  You will be directed where to go to line up.

How do I RSVP for Commencement?

Regent University Commencement will be held on Saturday, May 5.  You must RSVP separately for the Regent University Commencement Ceremony. Find information HERE.
