2011-2012 Emerging Leaders Scholarship

The School of Education (SOE) is proud to consider qualified, accepted students for the Emerging Leaders Scholarship. Individuals must meet the following criteria in order to qualify.

Master’s Level Applicants:

  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • ETS Criterion Writing Sample Score of 5 or higher
  • Demonstrated professional and leadership experience as evidenced in a two-page supplementary essay to be submitted to the SOE Admissions Manager, Charles Hanley, at chanley@regent.edu (see below for essay question).

Specialist Level Applicants:

  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Master’s GPA of 3.75 or higher
  • ETS Criterion Writing Sample Score of 5 or higher
  • GRE score of 308 (new scoring)/1200 (old scoring) or higher or MAT score of 425 or higher
  • Demonstrated professional and leadership experience as evidenced in a two-page supplementary essay to be submitted to the SOE Admissions Manager, Charles Hanley, at chanley@regent.edu (see below for essay question).

Doctoral Level Applicants:

  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Master’s GPA of 3.75 or higher
  • ETS Criterion Writing Sample Score of 5 or higher
  • GRE score of 308 (new scoring)/1200 (old scoring) or higher
  • Demonstrated professional and leadership experience as evidenced in a two-page supplementary essay to be submitted to the SOE Admissions Manager, Charles Hanley, at chanley@regent.edu (see below for essay question).

Essay Question:

The School of Education seeks to invest in students who demonstrate clear vision and determination for high-impact leadership in education. Describe how you have demonstrated leadership ability and discuss a special attribute or accomplishment that sets you apart as an emerging leader. Discuss your own vision for leadership and indicate why you believe the School of Education should make a financial investment in your education. Please be sure to include how your education degree will assist you in pursuing your vision. We ask that you limit your essay to 2-pages.

Recipient Policy Information

  1. Recipients must be admitted and enrolled in a regular degree-seeking graduate, professional or doctoral program at Regent University.
  2. Recipients must be enrolled for at least six credit hours per semester (fall/spring/summer), unless in the final semester of their program. Classes for audit or "no credit" do not count as part of the six (6) credits.
  3. The scholarship is effective beginning with the semester for which it is granted and is applicable for the duration of the program, provided all eligibility requirements continue to be met. Exceptions to this award period will not be considered in any situation!
  4. Recipients must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) each semester. This includes the successful completion of at least six credit hours each fall, spring and summer semester to receive the award in any remaining semesters within the academic year of the award.
  5. The award is not stackable with other University or School-based aid.
