The Master's in K-12 Special Education (M.Ed.) is designed for individuals seeking K-12 teacher licensure with endorsement in special education as well as current special educators seeking further training in the field of special education. Foci of the special education master's degree program include characteristics of students with disabilities, legal and ethical aspects associated with students with disabilities, collaboration and consultation, behavior management, social skills training, language acquisition, instructional methods and assessment.

  • Length: 41 credit hours minimum.  Completion credits depend upon additional endorsements / certifications sought. May be completed in 18-24 months.
  • Format: This program may be taken entirely online, in a hybrid format or online with a summer residency. Students may enter the program in the fall, spring, or summer semesters.
  • Results: Master of Education degree and initial K-12 teaching license with endorsement in special education and a reading specialist option. Regent Autism Certificate is also available.
