SUMMER PROGRAMS

International Law & Human Rights Program in Strasbourg, France

Our Summer Program in Strasbourg, France, focuses on international law and human rights. Regent faculty and other distinguished scholars and attorneys, including former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft, teach in the program.

Strasbourg is the home of the European Court of Human Rights, the Council of Europe and the European Parliament. The city is also an ideal starting point for weekend travel—Strasbourg is minutes from Germany, a 90-minute train ride from Switzerland, and less than three hours from Paris.

Strasbourg students enroll in courses such as International Human
Rights, Comparative Law, Origins of the Western Legal Tradition, and Civil
Liberties and National Security. Students also meet and learn from attorneys for the European Centre for Law and Justice (the European counterpart to the American Center for Law and Justice, also based in Strasbourg).

Israel

Our Summer Program in Israel offers an opportunity to study in Israel’s unique legal environment. Course offerings include a course comparing Qur'anic Law and Biblical concepts of Just War and a course on Issues of International Law and the State of Israel. The program includes visits to and briefings by top Israeli officials, visits to key Israeli government facilities, and tours throughout central and northern Israel.

Oxford, England

We also offer law school students an opportunity to study international law and politics at the Hertford College at Oxford University, the world’s oldest English-speaking university.  The Summer Program in Oxford is sponsored by the Robertson School of Government.

(Note: the Summer Program in Oxford is not approved for
School of Law course credit by the ABA.)
