To be considered for eligibility:
- Complete the FAFSA correctly, which determines student's need.
- Be regularly enrolled in a degree-seeking program.
Amount Awarded:
The maximum annual award for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 academic years is $5,500.
The grant is normally awarded for two disbursements per academic year (fall and spring semesters). The student's attendance/participation must be confirmed for all courses in which the Pell payment was based.
Your Pell Grant is awarded to you based on two factors: Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and enrollment status. Your EFC is determined by the information provided on the FAFSA. You can see the results of your FAFSA on your Student Aid Report (SAR) which will also give you your EFC. That number determines Pell Grant funds you are eligible for. The second factor is your enrollment status. The Pell Grant is awarded based on the number of credits you take in a semester. Below is a chart to help you determine what your enrollment status is for each semester. A semester includes two sessions (Fall = Sessions A and B; Spring = Sessions C and D; Summer = Session E).
Enrollment Status |
# of Credits Per Semester |
| Full Time | 12+ credits |
| 3/4 Time | 9-11 credits |
| 1/2 Time | 6-8 credits |
| Less than 1/2 Time | 0-5 credits |
