Law - Marketing and Communications: Writer/Project Manager      08-27-2010

Description:

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Writer/Project Manager will primarily serve as creative and administrative lead for writing projects to include but no limited to: press releases, event write-ups, interview write-ups, web copy, project management communications, market research, and general writing needs of the Law Marketing and Communications department.

The Write/Project Manager will also manage the administrative functions of marketing projects including branding initiatives, social media, surveys and misc. research projects ranging from traditional to web-based marketing.

The Writer/Project Manager may at times also be called upon to  handle general office duties including phone coverage, scheduling meetings, making check requests, processing invoices, ordering supplies, organizing events, responding to marketing inquiries, and assisting as needed with mailings and presentation preparation.

Essential Functions:

Facilitate client project requests in conjunction with University Marketing

Creative lead researcher and writer for various marketing pieces, both print and web

Perform other office and administrative support as needed to help the overall workflow of the department and other departments, as needed and approved by marketing management.

Support special events, including organizing meetings, photo shoots and volunteers

Perform orientation of new employees

Process and catalog department expenditures

Manage phones and department calendar

Assist in the distribution of supplies and collateral (posters, brochures, etc.) to clients and/or departments

Maintain law school mailing databases (in Microsoft Access)

Maintain supply of marketing giveaways and materials

Handle production of department mailings, including maintaining and generating accurate mailing lists, performing database document merges, and executing mailings

Carry out quality assurance and provide careful proof-reading of mailings and other communications

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

Excellent proofreading and editing skills, and close attention to detail.

Candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:

•Demonstrate excellence in college mathematics coursework at the level of MATH 211 or higher — evidenced by a grade of B or higher ; oHave significant teaching or tutoring experience for courses similar to those mentioned above.

•Demonstration of a helpful, patient spirit for assisting others, which represents a refinement of his/her Christian character. This is preferably evidenced by the observation of a professor or other qualified correspondent.

•Willingness to receive training in tutoring skills and to acquire topical knowledge in each of the courses mentioned above.

•Recommendation of university professor or other qualified correspondent, preferably of Regent University, that attests to the qualifications listed above.

Position Responsibilities:

•Assist students enrolled in the aforementioned courses in: understanding concepts, acquiring and refining computational skills, and coaching students through problems assigned by their instructors.

•Perform these tasks for students by various means of contact: in-person, phone, email, instant online communication, or other technologies that may become available.

•Refer students, as appropriate, to other sources, such as: the course instructor, publisher-created resources, Smarthinking, etc.

•Balance, as appropriate, the concurrent needs of multiple students via multiple lines of contact.

•Participate in weekly training sessions for a minimum of the first eight weeks of the first session in which he/she tutors.

Additional Responsibilities:

•Master the course-delivery software for courses listed above.

•Perform all assigned record-keeping tasks including: tutor time sheets, tutee record sheets, data collection, and report preparation.

•Maintain and improve the organization and cleanliness of MTC.

Comments: The purpose of this position is to deliver mathematics tutoring services to Regent University students enrolled in general education mathematics courses (MATH 101 Mathematics for the Liberal Arts, MATH 102 College Algebra, and MATH 201 Statistics) both on-campus and off-campus. The goal of the Mathematics Tutoring Center (MTC) is to satisfy needs of RSU students for basic mathematical understanding related to the content of the above courses, to enhance their prospects for improved grade achievements, and to reduce frustration and attrition related to student difficulties with these mathematics courses.

Debater: Undergraduate Studies - Undergraduate Debate Team Coach 04-28-2010

Position Requirements:

1.Four-year bachelors degree;  

2.Competitive collegiate debate experience of at least 2-3 years

Position Responsibilities:

1.Training debaters for the purposes of intercollegiate debate competition in both parliamentary debate and moot court debate;

2.Developing students' skills in research, argumentation and reasoning;

3.Developing students to be competent Christian professionals in the areas of debate and argumentation;  

4.Working corroboratively with Club leadership and the Club's faculty advisor to field the best possible teams;  

5.Oversee practice schedule and the assigning, reviewing, and following up of preparatory work to be done outside of club;  

6.Identifying possible debate tournaments and assisting in team preparation; 

7.Taking responsibility for details of traveling to debate tournaments, including but not limited to, raising funds for trips, coordinating cash advances/expense reports/receipts; 

8.Advising debate students on purchases made with club dues and facilitating approval from faculty advisor
